During Pioneer Days Celebration Event

HENDERSON, NV, March 28, 2016– If the term Industrial Days takes you back to a nostalgic time of Henderson memories, then you won’t want to miss the annual Pioneer Days event sponsored by the Henderson Historical Society (HHS).

Join members (and potential members) during this year’s Heritage Days celebration for a reunion—bring your stories, photos, and historical items from Henderson’s early days to share with those who also have an affinity for our city’s history.
Incorporated as a city in 1953, the annual celebration began that year and continued in a similar form until 2002. With such activities as a pageant, talent show, basketball games, parade, and chili cook-offs, it was a time the entire city came together to showcase and remember its heritage.

The event was revamped in the early 2000s to only include a few key events, such as the traditional parade. If you remember when this gathering was called Industrial Days (or even if you don’t and want to learn more), be sure to stop by the HHS gathering for some storytelling and light refreshments. The organization’s annual meeting will also take place during the event, at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The Pioneer Days reception will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in Sierra Conference Rooms B/C at the Henderson Convention Center. According to HHS founder Louis F. La Porta, “Pioneer Days is a great time to connect and reconnect with others who enjoy learning the history of their town.

We look forward to meeting new members and sharing the opportunities our organization provides.”
Formally instituted in 2011, the HHS is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering public awareness and pride and to preserve the history of Henderson, Nevada for future generations. For more information and to become a member, please visit HendersonHistoricalSociety.org.
